11/21/2023 0 Comments Vaporum lockdown review![]() Lockdown will still be in first-person and follow the same grid-based format as Vaporum. Following disastrous events, Teller now must struggle to survive and escape the titular tower of Arx Vaporum. This should be great news for fans of the series’ lore. For one, the story now follows the journey of Ellie Teller, a scientist who is part of a mysterious research project in the middle of the ocean, which I would assume will set the stage for the events in Vaporum. In contrast to usual CRPGs, players do not upgrade their personal stats through their run, but rather upgrade their exo-rig with additional weapons, gadgets, and more that will help you defeat enemies, traverse obstacles, and also provide stat bonuses and passive skills.Īs for Vaporum: Lockdown, it will follow the steampunk aesthetic of its predecessor, but will come with a few choice changes and improvements. Players will have to traverse the tower to uncover its secrets and mysteries, learn what happened, and discover their identity. Vaporum puts players in the role of an unnamed protagonist stuck inside a gigantic mechanical tower in the middle of the ocean filled with dangerous creatures and enemies, and only equipped with an exo-rig. Was a great way to spend 6 hours.Lockdown's predecessor, the first Vaporum, has been dubbed as a "Steampunk dungeon crawler” and is a first-person role-playing game inspired by classics such as Dungeon Master I and II, the Eye of the Beholder series, and the more recent Legend of Grimrock I and II. Beautiful game with that satisfying as all hell map that (as a role player who uses dungeons crawl) I bloody love. I still do love FPRPG's and there's a distinct lack of them these days, I need new ones to play now as I've done both Vaporum and Grimrock. Puzzles: This was disappointing, compared to Lockdown the puzzles in this didn't trump me or stop me for more than a few minutes, even the office teleporter one took me a couple of tries before realising the hint to it - No end game super reaction puzzles either like in LockdownĬombat: Can't say much else that I didn't say in Lockdown, other than the annoying times being stuck in a corridor with 2 golems double teaming me or having 4 berserkers trap me. ![]() ![]() Other than that it was a kinda nice selection. There was a nice amount of unique weapons for all types - 3/4 each although I will say there was a distinct lack of unique armour to pick from as I finished the game with everything but gloves - Now I could of but that meant using the gloves that I began the game with. Weapons/armour: With the lack of energy ranged weapons I was kinda sad but It made me use things I didn't in the other, mainly melee weapons. As with the other game 99% of the story came from papers and audio logs and even they had little more to offer that was outside of someone you could kind of guess without listening to them Story: So Lockdown is a prequel and I was a little confused since I though you played Sophie in the lockdown game but seeing a kid got me a little but the story was fairly basic like a lot of other Hex based FPRPG. Build: So I was a little disappointed there was no energy based ranged weapons so I picked to go with a build I tend to avoid in most games - I went with Thauma rig with a gadget focus, for weapons I used the crowbar for most of the game until I got the sword that give you extra xp and used that til game end along with small shields until I unlocked rank 3 of shields for Unity.
